Aubrey and Drew were married in September at the Mt. Airy Mansion in Upper Malboro, MD. The two actually reside in Oklahoma, but chose Maryland because it’s where Aubrey is from.
The Mt. Airy Mansion in Upper Marlboro, MD was the perfect spot for the wedding and reception. The mansion has a long history of hosting weddings, dating back to the 17th century. It was built by Charles Calvert, the Third Lord Baltimore, as a one-room hunting lodge before eventually becoming the 13-room house it is now. The lodge hosted its very first wedding in 1774 and bore witness to the marriage of George Washington’s step-son. Washington was present at the wedding and later became a frequent visitor of the lodge. The lodge survived two fires, the second of which was during its time as a restaurant. It was then purchased by the owner of the Times-Herald who restored the mansion. In the 1970s it was purchased by the state and 10 years later, renovated again after being leased. In addition to its long history, the property sits in the midst of 1,000 acres known as Rosaryville State Park.
The history and elegance of the mansion combined with the surrounding outdoors made for a gorgeous wedding backdrop. Aubrey’s colors of black and gold sparkled, with pops of color added courtesy of red and white roses. The bridesmaids’ sequin dresses were the perfect touch, especially when paired with the groomsmens’ classic black tuxes. Aubrey’s dress was gorgeous with just the right amount of lace and Drew’s classic tux paired well with his custom cuff links. The two had a gorgeous ceremony followed by a reception in which everyone danced the night away. As a special touch, Aubrey surprised her new husband by singing. The reception was the perfect end to the day.
