I'm a published wedding and portrait photographer located in a small town outside of Charlottesville. In addition to capturing beautiful images, I love spending time with my family, am freakishly good at word games (Hey Wheelmobile!), love an ice cold can of Coke or Dr. Pepper, know every line to Hocus Pocus and can never pass up a Chick-fil-A waffle fry or a trip to HomeGoods.

Kevin + Morgan | Alturia Farm Wedding

Morgan once told me she’s not a cold weather girl, but you could never tell it judging by her wedding day. She was all smiles all day as she married Kevin March 9 at Alturia Farm, a gorgeous horse farm complete with white barns in King William about 20 miles outside of Richmond. It was a cold day, but the chilly breeze didn’t dampen the festivities.

Kevin and Morgan said “I Do” in a beautiful outdoor ceremony surrounded by their family and friends. Morgan (because if Kevin is anything like my husband he has no idea what dusty blue is) selected dusty blue, slate gray and blush as the colors for the day with the bridesmaids in blue and the groomsmen in gray suits with blush ties. White, blush and creme were used in the bouquets and aisle decorations, along with lots of greenery. Parents, grandparents and the bridal party entered the ceremony through custom wooden doors created by Kevin and his dad. The doors marked the start of the aisle with a matching custom arbor at the other end. Kevin beamed as Morgan entered through the doors with her dad. The two exchanged vows and rings before braiding a three stranded cord, all with horses in the background of the ceremony. I don’t know that it gets more picturesque than that.

Following the ceremony, Kevin and Morgan completed a Southern tradition with help from their bridal party–digging up a bottle of bourbon they had buried a month earlier in an effort to ward off bad weather. It must of worked, because despite clouds, it didn’t rain until after the reception ended. I’m a believer!

The reception itself featured more custom touches, with a cake surrounded by donuts (some gluteny and some not) and a guest book using Polaroid photos. The tables featured gray linens with custom wooden table numbers and greenery centerpieces with lanterns and glass bottles. Following dinner (best mashed potatoes ever!), everyone danced the night away. There may have been a Conga line and the DJ even belted out a few tunes.

Following the reception, Kevin and Morgan exited in a sea of sparklers. I’m so happy I was able to capture their day. Enjoy some of my favorites.
