Katie + Daniel | Solomons Island Wedding

I have fond memories of touring the Drum Point Lighthouse as a child, so I was super excited to head back to the area for Katie and Daniel’s Solomons Island wedding. I actually hadn’t been back since the lighthouse tour when I was very young, so I had forgotten how beautiful the area is. It’s the perfect island town with restaurants and houses along the waterfront, boats in the harbor, a boardwalk and more.

Katie and Daniel chose to have their wedding at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center which has a great outdoor space with walkways and large art pieces. The ceremony was held in “The Council Ring,” which was built as an oasis in the heart of the garden. It’s an intimate space and perfect for an outdoor ceremony. It was also perfect for Katie and Daniel who wanted a distraction free ceremony that really focused on their love. They met in college in 2007 and have been together since. If you spend just a minute or two with them it becomes obvious that they compliment each other and have an effortless connection. All grooms should look at their brides the way Daniel looks at Katie.

After the ceremony, we headed to the boardwalk for some waterfront photos because you cannot be on Solomons Island and not catch the sunset. It was fairly cloudy, but we still got a bit of that perfect evening fall glow. Then it was on to the reception for dancing, dinner and more dancing. Did I mention dancing? I love it when couples dance with their family and friends. I think it may be my favorite part of a reception. Some people are all about the cake; I’m all about the dancing.

I’m so happy I was able to get back to Solomons Island and capture Katie and Daniel’s wedding. It was the best day. Even with the $9 ticket I later received in the mail because I didn’t have cash to pay the toll on the Harry Nice Bridge. They should totally take card. Oops!
