Allison + Wes | Walkerton Tavern Wedding

Allison and Wes’ spring wedding at Walkerton Tavern may have been drizzly, but it was beautiful. The tavern itself is a great space. Built in 1825, it’s currently part of the Cultural Arts Center of Glen Allen and features the large home as well as a number of outbuildings and a gazebo that is perfect for weddings. The one outbuilding, which I think may have been the original kitchen, serves as a getting ready space for the bride which Allison used to get dressed with her maid of honor and mom.

Allison and Wes originally met online; she messaged him first (yes girl!). They got engaged right before the pandemic started last March and began planning their wedding for April of this year. They’re both tons of fun and their wedding was no exception. Wes’ mom and brother tore up the dance floor. They were unstoppable. Also unstoppable was their DJ who not only played hits, but also danced the entire time. If you want someone who is high energy and will keep the party going, he’s your guy.

Another major highlight? The dessert table. There were slices of cheesecake, cannolis, pie and more for guests to choose from. Every option looked amazing!

We were able to get in some outdoor portraits despite the drizzle and made sure to include the venue’s flowers since spring is Allison’s favorite season. The clouds and rain made them pop even brighter than usual. We also made sure to include an umbrella in some because if it rains on your wedding day (which is good luck!) you have to include an umbrella, right?
