I'm a published wedding and portrait photographer located in a small town outside of Charlottesville. In addition to capturing beautiful images, I love spending time with my family, am freakishly good at word games (Hey Wheelmobile!), love an ice cold can of Coke or Dr. Pepper, know every line to Hocus Pocus and can never pass up a Chick-fil-A waffle fry or a trip to HomeGoods.
With only about two weeks to go until their big day, I received a message that Rebecca and Joseph were seeking a photographer to capture their Arbor Haven wedding. “Yes, absolutely, let’s figure it out.” I’m a make it work girl (I see you Tim Gunn) and if I can make it work, I’ll do it. I’ve actually captured some amazing weddings that way and met wonderful couples because for whatever reason, their original plan didn’t work out. That was definitely the case with Rebecca and Joseph.
They met nine years ago and are both super into cars. They belong to a car club which they used as the theme for their wedding. The table decor and cake stand were all made out of car parts. Each table was also named after a car and guests found their names on keys to determine which table they were seated at. Romantic vibes and elegance was added through greenery and various shades of roses. Rebecca did the arrangements herself and they were beautiful! Continuing the car club theme was their officiant–the president of the club–and custom cocktail tables made out of wheels.
To keep guests entertained there were lawn games including cornhole and tic-tac-toe, along with dancing (of course) and a photo booth.
However, one of the best moments may have happened before the ceremony when Rebecca surprised Joseph with a first look. Except, it wasn’t her. It was the best man! How amazing is that? You have to see it to get the full effect.
Enjoy some of my favorites from this Arbor Haven wedding.
