I'm a published wedding and portrait photographer located in a small town outside of Charlottesville. In addition to capturing beautiful images, I love spending time with my family, am freakishly good at word games (Hey Wheelmobile!), love an ice cold can of Coke or Dr. Pepper, know every line to Hocus Pocus and can never pass up a Chick-fil-A waffle fry or a trip to HomeGoods.
Selena and Opey had a beautiful Alturia Farm wedding in November. The weather was perfect even if a little warm for the month and Selena picked a perfect blend of reds, burgundies and blushes to compliment the day. It was truly a day of love and laughter with their friends and family members.
Selena is a general manager for Buckle and that’s actually how she met Opey. As told by her friends during their toasts, Opey came into Selena’s store to return a broken watch. She agreed to take it back if he would shop around. They started talking, he eventually asked for her number and the rest is history.
During their wedding day, not only was their love for each other on display, but also the love for their family and friends. Selena and Opey opted for a first touch before their ceremony during which they read letters to each other and shared a prayer with their pastor. Selena then had the most perfect first look with her dad followed by a horse drawn carriage ride to the ceremony. They also shared a special choreographed dance during the reception. Opey shared a special dance with his mom as well. Plus, they spent lots of time dancing and digging up bourbon (Selena rocked it in her wedding dress with that shovel!) with their friends. They had such a great dance party during their reception.
And because ya’ll know I love details, I have to mention that Selena picked the perfect combination of dresses for her bridesmaids. She opted for a variety of textures and styles including chiffon, tulle, velvet and sequins in burgundies and blushes with red, white and pink roses. Roses and greenery were also used for the ceremony entrance and reception tables and special touches were added with wooden signs, the most amazing champagne wall seating chart and a whisky barrel guestbook. I love it!
