Lake of the Woods Clubhouse | Christmas Wedding Inspiration

I recently plugged in an old external hard drive looking for something and I found this fun Christmas Wedding Inspiration shoot from 2020. I’ve attended a ton of styled shoots, or inspiration shoots, over the years. They offer a way to network with vendors, try new things, photograph at new locations, etc. but I’m terrible at posting them. I get busy with weddings and portrait sessions and the inspiration shoots go to the bottom of the pile aside from sharing photos with vendors. With it being the holiday season, I thought now would be a perfect time to share this one.

Twenty-twenty was an odd year for all of us, but especially us creatives. This shoot was done about a month or two before the world shut down. We had no idea what would be coming. There’s something I love about this shoot. It could be the timing of it or the slightly crooked crown. There are definitely some differences, especially technically, from the way I photograph now nearly six years later, but it’s still a favorite.

To lean into the Christmas vibes, there with hues of red and white both in the tablescape and florals, plus a variety of Christmas trees. The bride wore a ballgown and sneakers with the groom in a classic tux with red accents. The bridesmaids were also in red. The cake was a snowy theme with trees and pine. The location, in and around the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse, added its own elements with the striped wallpaper and dock.

It’s all Christmas without being too Christmas.
