Lauren and Jackson met while attending college at Randolph-Macon, so it only makes sense that they would have a Randolph-Macon wedding. Lauren and Jackson attended the same religion class, but sparks didn’t fly until both had to take a makeup quiz and the professor was late. Queue conversation and the next day it was lunch and a month later, they were a couple. Kudos to the professor for running behind.
If you’ve never visited Randolph-Macon College, the campus is beautiful. It’s located in Ashland which people call “the Center of the Universe” because it’s located in the middle of Virginia. Is that probably the center of the universe? No. Is it a fun tourism slogan? Yes. The downtown area is fairly vibrant. It has some shops and restaurants. You can definitely tell its boosted by the college being in town.
The college itself is beautiful and fits in really well. It has lots of brick, a gorgeous fountain and a pretty church, Duncan Memorial United Methodist, that has a wonderful courtyard area. The entire campus is very picturesque and a great wedding spot. After the ceremony, we stopped by the Ashland Theatre where family members had set up a little surprise for the newlyweds–their names were on the marquee! How sweet is that?
The reception was held at the nearby historic Hanover Tavern. They utilized the Nelson Taylor Dining Room which is an intimate brick adorned space combined with the pub to give a little extra room for guests to mix and mingle. Guests enjoyed toasts, dining and cake along with great conversation. Lauren and Jackson are both readers so their table numbers featured stacked books in shades of blue which I loved.
Here are some of my favorites from the day.
