Danielle + Josiah | Maternity | Spotsylvania, VA

Sunflowers and baby bumps are the perfect combination.

Snead’s Asparagus Farm was the site of Danielle’s first maternity session. It was unusually warm for January, but still had that wintery feel. It’s also the spot where we captured Noah’s six month photos and some of his other milestones so it only made sense we’d return for baby number two. However, instead of a winter vibe, this time it was all about the sunflowers.

I actually really love yellow. I don’t think it gets as much attention as it deserves among the favorite color lists, so when Danielle said she wanted sunflowers for her maternity session I was super excited and the farm didn’t disappoint. We waited until early August when the sunflowers were in full bloom, but hadn’t been overly scorched by the heat yet. The field also had that hazy summer glow that fills warm August evenings. Danielle wore sunflowers in her hair and this family of three color coordinated in sunflower-esque shades of black and yellow.

The session was perfect and I’m always so excited to meet up with one of my favorite families and especially my little buddy, Noah. He’s going to be the best big brother and is so excited about the new baby. Now we just have to wait for him to get here. It should only be a few more weeks as Danielle’s October due date is quickly approaching. I’m so excited to meet the newest member of the family. Until then, here’s some of my favorites from their last session as a family of three.
