I'm a published wedding and portrait photographer located in a small town outside of Charlottesville. In addition to capturing beautiful images, I love spending time with my family, am freakishly good at word games (Hey Wheelmobile!), love an ice cold can of Coke or Dr. Pepper, know every line to Hocus Pocus and can never pass up a Chick-fil-A waffle fry or a trip to HomeGoods.

Film, ice and Shenandoah…

This weekend I did something I haven’t done in almost a decade–I shot film! I started off in film as a child, obviously digital didn’t exist, and learned how to develop it in a darkroom back in high school. I continued with film for a few more years once in college until making the jump […]

Virginia Safari Park

Finishing up my birthday Natural Bridge trip was a stop by the Virginia Safari Park. If you’ve never been, go! It’s a 180-acre park with more than 1,000 animals, many of whom are free range in the strictest sense–they roam throughout the property. Visitors purchase a bucket of feed and then drive through the park, […]

Natural Bridge

After a visit to the amazing Natural Bridge Zoo, my husband and I stopped by Natural Bridge. I had been there years ago as a child with my family, but I was really excited to go back. Plus, my husband had never been and I feel like you can’t be a Virginian without having visited […]

Natural Bridge Zoo

I had been looking into the Natural Bridge Zoo for months. I knew what animals resided there, what their names were, when it was open, etc. You name it, I had looked it up so I was extremely excited when my husband took me to the zoo for my birthday. It was everything I had […]

2013 Fredericksburg Fair

I’ll admit it, I love fairs. It’s not the rides or the food that gets me excited, it’s the animals, the exhibits and the lighting. I always go check out all of the animals first and of course try to convince my husband that we absolutely need the fuzziest, floppiest eared rabbit they have. It […]

Sunflowers and raspberries…

A bit of a funny story on these photos: On our way home one afternoon, my husband and I found a gorgeous sunflower field. It was located at one of those pick-your-own-berries operations, so we figured it was fine to visit. We parked our car up near the store, which was open, walked to the […]

Richmond Squirrels

I love minor league baseball. The crowd is always so fun and they do really crazy things to get everyone pumped up like dances, running around the field with a live pig, peanut races and more. Granted, when we went in July it was sweltering. In one of the photos below you can actually see […]

Stars and Stripes ’13

One of my favorite events is the local Fourth of July celebration, “Stars and Stripes.” I love summer, holidays and fireworks and this event is the perfect combination of all three. Plus, the fireworks are so great and fun to photograph. And the food at the party we attend is amazing, right along with the […]

A visit to the tulip festival

If I haven’t already mentioned it a thousand times, I love spring. I love everything about it–the warmer temperatures, the blue skies and of course, the flowers. Each spring, I try to visit the tulip festival, a massive field of tulips planted by a man from Holland and his wife. The tulips are organic, which […]

Flashback Friday: Williamsburg ’09

I had a hard time coming up with a topic for today’s Flashback Friday, but since summer is coming quickly, I thought a previous summer vacation might make for a good feature. A few summers ago, my husband and I visited Williamsburg for a long weekend. I had been to Williamsburg before when I was […]
